Ponant invites you to experience the exceptional by discovering the High Arctic and the vastness of the polar world, with its pack ice stretching all the way to the North Pole. You will embark at Longyearbyen, Norway, for an 8-day expedition cruise at the heart of Spitsbergen, the largest island of the Svalbard archipelago.

During your journey aboard ship, accompanied by a team of specialists, you will discover flora and fauna remarkably adapted to extreme conditions, with winter temperatures around -30°C. This voyage will follow in the tracks of walruses, which can be observed near the 14 July Glacier, as well as the polar bear, lord of the Arctic, which you will very likely have the chance to observe in its natural environment.

During your cruise through these remote regions with their exceptional scenery, you will experience the unique sense of having reached the edge of the world. An unforgettable expedition, during which your ship will reach 80° north latitude.

Stops, landings and zodiac outings depend on weather conditions, ice position, winds and sea state. These factors may at any time require the Captain or expedition leader to cancel or interrupt an activity, or even to completely alter the itinerary. The final route will be confirmed by the ship's Captain, whose priorities are the quality of the experience and passenger safety. The decision will comply with that of the relevant authorities.

This cruise heads for the north-west coast of Spitsbergen, towards the pack ice, to explore the island's many fjords, each dominated by spectacular glaciers calving into translucent waters. You will go ashore daily to discover the omnipresent flora and fauna of Spitsbergen, on fine polar hikes. The lord of these lands, the polar bear, will be the main quest of the cruise.
