A place where lions rule the night and hippos stake their claim to the territory. An ideal setting for this intimate camp, built with respect for the surrounding landscape. Located a few kilometers from Mara Plains Camp, Mara Expedition Camp sits on a small bend of the Ntiakitiak River, where dense forest meets the endless savannah of the Masai Mara.

Layout

The design of Mara Expedition Camp draws on the style of authentic old expedition camps from the colonial era. A rustic atmosphere for these five tents, combining comfort, adventure and harmony.
Meals are generally served out in the bush, around a campfire.

For your children

Children aged 8 and above are welcome.

Rooms

Shaded by the forest canopy, the tents forgo sophisticated fittings but leave nothing to chance. Each tent is decorated with an eclectic yet coordinated collection of items reminiscent of what early explorers might have carried — brass lamps, antique trunks from the Indian countryside, leather and hardwood furniture — combined with rich textiles and soft cotton.
A bathroom with toilet and bucket shower is available.

Activities offered

Early morning and late afternoon or early evening safaris in a 4x4 vehicle. Hot air balloon flights over the Maasai Mara can be arranged at an additional cost.
