Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa is a five-star safari lodge located in the Welgevonden Game Reserve, a peaceful, malaria-free reserve in Limpopo province.
Here, nature meets contemporary luxury and African elegance, inviting travellers to a refined safari experience.
The lodge is less than three hours' drive from Johannesburg, or around an hour by air, offering easy access to exceptional encounters with the Big Five.
Mhondoro is known for its unique underground hide facing a waterhole, where you can observe wildlife up close, in complete safety and quiet.

Layout

The camp is arranged around an elegant main lodge and private suites scattered across the bush. Communal areas include a refined dining room, a panoramic lounge, a viewing deck, a heated pool, a convivial bar and relaxation areas opening onto the savannah.
An underground hide connected by tunnel allows guests to get close to the animals at the waterhole. A star deck offers a spectacular view of the night sky.

For your children

Mhondoro is family-friendly and offers comfortable family suites.
Children aged 6 and over can join the regular safaris (morning and afternoon departures) accompanied by their parents.
For families with younger children, the lodge offers “bumble drives” (short safaris specially adapted for children) available on request, with a dedicated ranger.
The lodge also has a children's programme with fun, educational activities (nature walks, workshops, simple wildlife observation) as well as a secluded, secure play area.
A babysitting service can be arranged at an additional cost if needed.

Rooms

Mhondoro offers several categories of luxury suites: deluxe suites with pool, executive suite, honeymoon suite and family suites, all decorated in a chic African style with contemporary touches. Each suite has a private bathroom, a terrace overlooking the bush and easy access to the common areas. The private villa accommodates up to six people with personalised service.

SPA

The lodge has a full spa & wellness centre offering soothing treatments, aromatherapy and deep-tissue massages, allowing guests to relax in a natural setting after a morning safari.

Activities offered

Your stay includes guided safaris in the morning and afternoon in the reserve, in search of the Big Five and Welgevonden's rich wildlife. Guided walks and hide outings at the waterhole offer unique opportunities to observe wildlife up close.
The star deck also allows for stargazing under the vast African sky.
