On the first day of walking, you set off from Palmwag Lodge equipped with a backpack containing water, your cameras, a hat, sunglasses and binoculars, for a first 2 to 3-hour walk to reach the Etendeka concession. Luggage is transported by 4x4 vehicle to the overnight location.
The first overnight stop is set around a waterhole frequented by wildlife. If you are lucky, you may spot zebra, oryx, steenbok or even elephants. Sleeping arrangements consist of a raised platform with a bed, sleeping bag, pillow, toilet and washbasin. You can sleep with the roof open to the sky to enjoy the Milky Way, or choose to close the platform's roof.
After this first night connected to nature, you set off early in the morning after breakfast, carrying your lunch in your backpack, heading for Hills Camp atop Crystal Mountain. This walk covers between 15 and 20 km and takes 6 to 7 hours, including stops, depending on the group's physical condition.
You settle in for your second night in the same type of accommodation. At the mountain summit, the sunset view is remarkable. Dinner is taken by the campfire.
The following day, walkers who booked the 2-night experience take one last morning walk before reaching their final destination: Etendeka Mountain Lodge. For the 3-night experience, walkers set off on a 5 to 6-hour hike around Crystal Mountain and down the mountainside before spending one last night at Hills Camp.
