Nestled between seasonal rocky riverbeds and overlooking a wooded valley, Olkeri Camp sits near a waterhole, at the heart of a region home to significant populations of wildlife, particularly elephants and buffalo.
The heart of the camp consists of the mess tent, the adjoining lounge tent (with Wi-Fi) and the outdoor area.
Meals are generally taken individually, but can become communal if friendships form around the campfire, lit each evening beneath the stars after sunset.
There's no pool here — the camp relies on nature instead — but the views are breathtaking and the contact with the environment direct.
The minimum age to take part in a safari at Olkeri is 5 (and a minimum of 12 for walking safaris).
Families with younger children must book a private vehicle. All children stay at their parents' own risk.
The camp sits on level ground, with good paths serving all the tents, accessible via steps.
8 suites welcome travellers. Built on wooden decking, they feature spacious terraces overlooking seasonal watercourses. Two interconnecting rooms form a family suite. Triple rooms are available.
All tents are elegantly decorated and well lit. For fans of natural light: the tents diffuse light through mosquito netting or open awnings depending on the weather.
They are equipped with a private bathroom with running water and flush toilets. The floors are pleasantly covered with mats and rugs.
Walkie-talkies, a torch, multiple international plug sockets and USB ports add further comfort.
Olkeri does not have a traditional spa, but offers simple wellness moments: in-tent massages on request, mud baths around seasonal water points, and fireside relaxation under the stars. These moments offer a restorative pause after a day on safari.
Olkeri offers a range of complimentary and paid experiences: 4x4 safaris in the Randilen Reserve or Tarangire, guided walking safaris, night drives to observe nocturnal wildlife. Surprising fly-camping nights under the stars, cultural immersions with the Maasai, bush dinners and sundowners facing the bush. Birdwatching in the camp’s gardens or from the veranda rounds out the days. Some activities are included, others depend on the chosen package.
