Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe's largest park, covering 14,600 km2.
Given its size, the landscape and vegetation vary considerably, from the semi-desert scrubland of the Kalahari in the south of the park to granite hills and mopane forests in the north.
Known for its elephant herds, the park is also home to more than 100 mammal species, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, rhinos, and numerous bird species. The best season for wildlife viewing is the dry season, when animals gather at water points.
In this park, safaris take different forms for an engaging, varied approach: daytime 4x4 safaris, night drives, and walking safaris.
