Its name sounds like a drumroll. Africa's giants gather here. The baobab and the elephant dominate, reigning unchallenged over the vastness of this park.
Considered one of the finest refuges for Tanzania's large wildlife, it covers 2,600 km², sits at an average altitude of 1,100 metres, and is known for its exceptional concentrations of animals between July and October.
The park is also home to species that are sometimes hard to find — or simply absent — from the northern parks: the gerenuk, lesser kudu, oryx, eland, and the most sought-after of all antelopes, the greater kudu.
