À vivre

The well-known Reykjadalur trail, or “smoky valley”, has become a popular path. Nestled between the mountains, a warm river flows, offering the perfect temperature for a soothing bath. Despite its popularity, the sheer scale of the area makes it a must-see.
The trailhead is located near the picturesque town of Hveragerði, 40 km from Reykjavik. Although the hike is relatively short and easy, it promises panoramic views. On a clear day, the view stretches all the way to the ocean, framed by steaming mountains.
Venture into a geothermal activity zone, where the ground bubbles and steam rises. As you progress, the geothermal river comes into view, often dotted with hikers enjoying the warm waters.
This experience, combining an invigorating hike with a natural bath and dramatic scenery, is one of Iceland's finest gifts.
