Have the chance to travel with your children? Don't miss out on these unforgettable, bonding moments.
It's a remarkable opportunity to introduce them to the world, to pass on an appreciation for nature, for the great wild and unspoiled spaces of our planet.
You'll likely have questions about the right age to travel, and the pace best suited to their needs.
This is exactly where our role as specialists comes into its own.

Contrary to certain preconceptions, Botswana is a superb destination for a family safari.
In southern Africa, there's a real break between the two daily safaris, which take place early in the morning and late in the day.
It's a precious moment for children: a chance to stretch their legs, jump in the lodge pool, or knock on the kitchen door to lend the chef a hand.

Many lodges offer programmes tailored to young explorers. Staff go out of their way, brimming with imagination to keep them occupied and help create lasting memories.
Activities vary from camp to camp. All are led by skilled, enthusiastic teams who make the experience something magical for children.

Another of Botswana's strengths is the wide range of activities on offer.
Beyond the programmes designed specifically for them, children will always be active and full of wonder.
They can join 4x4 safaris by day and sometimes by night, observe wildlife on a boat safari, or enjoy the unusual experience of a night under the stars at the heart of the bush, on raised platforms able to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.

Based on our experience and the policies of many local operators, 7 is the recommended minimum age for a safari in Botswana. Some lodges may accept children from age 6, though the choice will be more limited.
Only two activities carry stricter restrictions: mokoro excursions and walking safaris. Participants must be over 12, or even 16 for certain walking safaris.

Whatever the destination, the rule is always the same: the guide has the final say. If they judge the child's behaviour to be safe, they give the go-ahead for them to join the safari.
Before departure, it's up to you to judge whether your child is ready for this experience!
