Those who have had the chance to go on safari across Botswana, staying in the country's finest reserves or concessions, all share the same impression of Mombo: it is a small paradise, a miniature Noah's ark of African wildlife, set in surroundings of incredible beauty, in every season.
It is also worth noting that some of the finest wildlife documentaries in Botswana were filmed here. Among them, Eye of the Leopard, by Derek & Beverly Joubert. A must in this field.
It is above all one of the very few places in Botswana where it is possible to observe rhinoceros, which are particularly closely protected by rangers. But paradoxically, Mombo is part of the Moremi Reserve and therefore follows its rules, which are much stricter than those in force in private concessions. For example, night safaris and off-road driving are not permitted here.
Even so, Mombo is an exceptional site, and safaris led by equally exceptional guides promise memorable moments.
To say it is the most memorable lodge in Botswana is not much of a stretch.
