It is always the man who leads. Through his gaze. He draws his partner into the whirl of the dance, always counter-clockwise. A gesture, a look, and the audience's hearts skip a beat. Tango carries within it all the pride of the Argentine people.
Tango was born in the late 19th century in the immigrant neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires around 1880; the golden age of the 1930s is embodied by Carlos Gardel, through to the contemporary tango renewed by the great composer Piazzolla.
This evening is a genuine sensory experience. Discover the world of tango with our local host. He is the kind of friend you would wish to have in every corner of the world – a local who knows the city inside out and offers travellers, if they wish, an informal stroll tailored to their tastes.
Alongside him, you can enjoy his advice and his little black book of addresses: the neighbourhoods of the moment, the milongas, the good small restaurants, a lovely terrace or the latest rooftop bar just opened for an early-evening drink, all while learning about local life and customs. An instructive, relaxed, privileged and convivial moment.
The evening with our local host is therefore carte blanche to immerse yourself in the world of tango.
