To rise above the Bagan plain by hot air balloon, you need to be ready to take off at sunrise — and get up accordingly. Once in the air, though, as the sun timidly appears, the effort is rewarded.
Flying over the vast plain, its ground still wrapped in morning mist, you grasp the scale of the Bagan archaeological site: nestled among the trees, temples of every shape and size stretch as far as the eye can see, revealing what was once the first Burmese empire.
Further off on the horizon, the Irrawaddy flows quietly, lending a sense of serenity to those admiring it from the sky.
Back on the ground, you’re welcomed with a glass of champagne and breakfast.
