Experiencing Greenland from the air offers a new perspective on the country's immense size and on living conditions in the Arctic.
Aerial tours or adventure flights are the airborne counterpart to kayaking. In a country where nearly all roads are confined within town limits and where travel through the wilderness relies on boats or aircraft, the large panoramic windows of a helicopter or small plane offer views of Greenland that few people ever experience.
As a rule of thumb, it takes about a week on foot to cover the distance a plane crosses in an hour, and we recommend experiencing the landscape both ways, as they complement one another. But if your goal is to take in a sweeping panoramic view and see the full variety of the country's terrain, from oceans to fjords, mountains, inland areas and ice, then an aerial adventure is the obvious choice.
