The Cocora Valley lies in Colombia's coffee region. It is reached from the small town of Salento, which has preserved its traditions and colourful houses since the late 1840s. The views over the high Andean peaks and valleys are breathtaking. The Cocora Valley is famous for its giant wax palms, so tall they seem to brush the clouds. They can reach 60 metres in height and grow in a cold, misty, high-altitude environment. The sight is strikingly beautiful, with shades of green and a rich array of flora and fauna thriving within a unique ecosystem.
