Private half-day tour of the city of Arequipa with a French-speaking private guide, including the Santa Catalina Monastery and the San Ignacio Chapel, Yanahuara and the Carmen Alto district.
The tour first crosses Arequipa’s most traditional district, San Lazaro, known for its picturesque cobbled lanes, then passes the Fundo del Fierro, an old patrician house where local crafts can be seen. The route continues to the church and monastery of San Francisco, one of the city’s finest buildings, then to the beautiful Plaza de Armas, where splendid arcades rival the cathedral and the Church of the Society of Jesus in elegance. The tour ends at the Santa Catalina Monastery, a veritable small town within the city, with its lanes lined with little ochre, blue and white houses, its squares and fountains — a setting reminiscent of distant Andalusia. The tour then continues by vehicle to visit Yanahuara and the Carmen Alto district.
