Discover the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, an exceptional region in many respects: unlike a traditional national park, the Ngorongoro protected area does not exclude human presence. The Maasai are permitted to remain on their ancestral lands on condition that they maintain their traditional way of life as nomadic herders.
This vast area (over 8,500 km²) is a corner of Africa as it was centuries ago.
Here, people and wildlife coexist without conflict. The region holds many other points of interest: its distinctive wildlife, the Olduvai site and its small museum, Maasai villages largely untouched by Western influence, Maasai communities, and geological curiosities such as Nassera Rock, the “shifting sands”, and the gorges.
We also offer the chance to explore this part of Tanzania on foot, accompanied by a Maasai guide who will lead you from camp to the Olduvai Museum through the famous Olduvai Gorge, the cradle of humankind. The trek ends at the paleontological site and museum tracing the major discoveries made there.
