Costa Rica, Jungle Lodges in Tortuguero and Corcovado

Sample tailor-made journey, fully customisable

Country

Costa Rica

Suggested duration

11 days / 9 nights

The spirit of the journey

At the heart of the jungle, charming lodges set in pristine nature let you observe wildlife and flora under privileged conditions... A striking journey between the canals of Tortuguero and the jungle of Corcovado.

In Tortuguero National Park, known as “the Little Amazon”, a beautiful forest lodge awaits you. The hushed atmosphere, the à la carte excursions in very small groups, make this a truly intimate place to stay.

Then, head south to the Osa Peninsula, where nature takes the name of Corcovado. This vast wilderness is one of the largest in Central America. Hard to reach, it is scattered with dry tropical forests and fringed by wild beaches!

Home to the scarlet macaw, Corcovado is a remarkable territory for observing wildlife and birdlife. Along with La Amistad National Park, it is the only place in Costa Rica where you might have the privilege of spotting a jaguar. You’ll stay at two different lodges for a journey as close to nature as it gets.

And the ocean is never far away.

Tortuguero is the first stop of your journey.
Your driver takes you to the entrance of Tortuguero National Park in a private vehicle. Access to the lodge is then by boat.

A 2-night stay at a charming lodge, set between two Tortuguero canals and surrounded by a lush tropical garden.

Your excursions will focus on the activities offered by the lodge: forest walks, boat excursions along the canals, a visit to Tortuguero village … unless you’d rather take a kayak to reach the village.

Activities take place in very small groups (maximum 5 people).

Manatus Hotel

Just steps from Tortuguero National Park and nestled between two canals, you'll find the charming Manatus Hotel.

Next, on to the Osa Peninsula – Puerto Jimenez
From Tortuguero, a morning flight to Puerto Jimenez, with a stopover in San José.

The lodge team meets you on arrival and takes care of your transfer to the lodge by road.
You’ll stay for 3 nights at the southern tip of the Osa Peninsula, in a secluded lodge deep in nature.
It’s a place of character, and also ideal for wildlife observation (macaws, capuchin monkeys, spider monkeys, toucans, sloths, dolphins …) and for hiking the surrounding trails.
Horseback or walking excursions are offered depending on your preference.

A platform fitted with a zipline at around 40 m above ground lets you observe wildlife at dawn — and even have breakfast up there!

El Remanso Lodge

You’ll be staying right in the heart of nature, on the southern tip of the Osa Peninsula, known for hosting one of the most biodiverse rainforests on Earth.
The lodge is also involved in a number of sustainable development practices and activities.

Corcovado National Park
From Puerto Jimenez, private taxi transfer to Palmar Sur. The lodge team meets you at Palmar Sur and takes care of your transfer to the lodge by road, river and then sea. The approach to the lodge is a marvel in itself at every turn. A boat takes you through the mangroves and across the sea to reach the final frontier between the marine world and Central America’s only primary rainforest.

You’ll stay 3 nights at a lodge set in the immediate vicinity of Corcovado National Park.
The program includes a forest walk in Corcovado National Park with your naturalist guide, and a full day devoted to exploring Isla del Caño, a small island reached by boat — a little haven for relaxing and snorkelling.

After lunch, the adventure continues with a hike along the San Pedrillo river. The day ends with a boat ride back to the hotel, potentially in the company of dolphins and whales.
