The spirit of the journey

Diving in Bali is an experience not to be missed.
The diversity of marine life around the island has become essential for any diver to discover.
Each dive site has its own distinct character: tropical fish, reef sharks, manta rays, and the mola-mola.

Through this itinerary, we offer a diving safari stay around the island — a different way to discover Bali.

A fine combination of land and sea, leaving you with striking images... and lasting memories.

MENJANGAN NATIONAL PARK
The day after your arrival, following a good night’s sleep, visit Tanah Lot temple outside peak hours — the site gains considerably in serenity.
You’ll then take small roads through terraced rice paddies to the village of Blimbing. Arrival late morning and lunch at a Balinese inn facing a superb landscape. In the afternoon, a short walk through coffee, clove, cacao and vanilla plantations, led by your guide.
You’ll stay on the coast, away from the tourist routes.

Uninhabited and protected, Menjangan is considered one of the strongholds for divers on the Island of the Gods. Away from any tourist bustle, in this small sanctuary you’ll encounter only a few rangers patrolling the area, or deer.

Two days of diving: departure by boat to Menjangan Island, within the national park, home to some of Bali’s finest dive sites, renowned for its walls and drop-offs.
2 dives per day, with a French-speaking instructor. Picnic lunch, drinks included.

Île de Menjangan

This small gem is a perfect spot for diving enthusiasts. Its clear turquoise waters are home to numerous species, each more fascinating and colourful than the last. In a relaxing, calm setting shaped by gentle waves and weak currents, you'll move from one discovery to the next amid this exceptional biodiversity. Species you may encounter include pygmy seahorses, harlequin shrimp and mandarinfish. Menjangan Island is particularly renowned worldwide for its stunning drop-offs — the finest in Bali — descending from 20 to 60m, offering divers the chance to admire an incredible diversity of marine plant life.

With standout dive sites such as the Anker wooden wreck and the eel garden, Menjangan has plenty to offer. Diving conditions are optimal: little current, water temperatures between 27°C and 30°C, and visibility reaching up to 50 metres — all allowing you to enjoy your dive with complete peace of mind.

AMED – TULAMBEN
A touch of culture before returning to diving.
Visit the animist village of Tenganan, home to the Bali Aga (Bali’s original inhabitants, predating the Hindu settlers), who have long produced Ikat weaving and basketry, their houses standing as genuine showcases of craftsmanship. This will be the occasion for a roughly 2-hour hike through a landscape dominated by Mount Agung, to the village of Bebandem, with the option to swim in the river. Before continuing on to Amed, you’ll pass through the Tirtagangga royal baths, set amid rice paddies and jungle.
Continue on to the fishing village of Amed.

A day of diving around the Tulamben sites, where one highlight is the wreck of the American ship “Liberty”, 50 m offshore. The dive is accessible to divers of all levels. 2 dives, picnic lunch.

Amed et la plongée

About 2 hours from Sanur and south of Tulamben, Amed is a fishing village where, once the boats return from the day's catch, you can rent their “Jukungs”.
The region is poor and arid, and life in Amed unfolds along the entire coastline. The beach is made of black sand, and porters are available there too.
Diving is abundant in this part of the island.

Diving at Jemeluk: the drop-off and the pyramids
A 10-minute Jukung (fishing boat) ride takes you to one of two sites ranging from 5 to 60 metres deep. These sites offer gorgonians, sponges and corals, along with a multitude of nudibranchs and reef fish.
Along the drop-off, you may encounter turtles, grey reef sharks, blacktip or whitetip sharks, grouper, Napoleon wrasse, and bumphead parrotfish.
The pyramids are artificial reefs created around twenty years ago, after El Niño, now attracting large numbers of reef fish seeking shelter — and consequently their predators too.
This dive takes place at around twenty metres, ending with a dramatic drop-off of about sixty metres, creating an exceptional contrast.

Diving at Lipah Bay
Located 3 km from Jemeluk, this site features a wreck resting at 5 metres depth just off the beach (ideal for snorkelling).
It serves as the starting and ending point of your dive. The wreck is a small Japanese vessel with a 20-metre-long steel hull.
It is now beautifully encrusted with gorgonians, sponges and black coral. The surrounding area is rich in marine life, home to reef fish, ghost pipefish, juvenile fish, shrimp, porcelain crabs and countless nudibranchs...

SANUR – NUSA PENIDA
After Amed and its wreck, on to Candi Dasa for a day of diving (2 dives per day with a French-speaking instructor) around Gili Tepekong island.
Picnic lunch.
You’ll be able to observe a fine variety of fish, and from June to October, mola-mola (sunfish).
Experienced divers only, due to the strong and unpredictable currents.
Then continue on to Sanur.

A day of diving around Nusa Penida island (2 dives per day with a French-speaking instructor).
Boat transfers and lunch included. Between June and October, you may have the chance to spot mola-mola (sunfish), or enjoy some fairly strong drift dives (for experienced divers).
For calmer dives and manta ray sightings, Crystal Bay or Manta Point, to the south of the island, are preferable. You’ll appreciate the untouched, wild beauty of the coastline, with its caves, coves and islets.

Your stay will end with a free day on Sanur beach, still authentic with its fishing boats.
