The Wahiba Sands, stretching from the Hajar Mountains to the Arabian Sea, are among the most beautiful sand deserts in the world. Their ochre and amber dunes, reaching up to 150 metres in height, form striking landscapes while sheltering surprising life: several thousand invertebrate species and numerous mammals endemic to the Arabian desert, such as mongooses and gazelles, inhabit this vast expanse.
Only the Bedouins, with their courage and expertise, venture to brave this arid environment. They raise camels and Arabian thoroughbred horses, travelling along the tracks linking the rare oases. They welcome travellers with tea, kawa (traditional Omani coffee) and date-based specialities.
Beyond these encounters, the desert stretches out as far as the eye can see, offering profound silence, an unchanging immensity, and a beauty that is both raw and striking.
