Argentina
Cordoba
As with everything in Argentina, food here follows its own traditions, with recipes passed down from generation to generation. The chefs enjoy inviting guests into the farmhouse's beautiful kitchen to teach them how to prepare traditional dishes such as empanadas, homemade bread and pasta. The estancia produces Malbec wines.
All farming activities on the estancia follow organic principles. The “farm to table” philosophy runs strong, with home-raised beef, eggs from free-range hens, and fruit and vegetables grown in the estancia's gardens. An active tree-planting programme and a zero food waste policy are also in place.
Estancia Los Potreros supports the local rural school, and its guests also contribute through a small shop located on the estancia.
The rooms are furnished with period pieces. They feature a wood-burning stove for cool winter nights. The rammed-earth walls keep them cool in summer. The rooms are stocked with natural, plastic-free, locally made soaps, as well as solid shampoo and conditioner bars.
Some of the activities are linked to equestrian tradition, as life at the estancia revolves largely around horsemanship: horse trainers, lasso throwing, polo, horseback rides.
Many other activities are also offered, such as golf, cultural visits to the city of Córdoba, its churches and Jesuit missions, and river swimming.
The estancia is fortunate to have abundant and varied birdlife, ideal for observation.
