Before March 2020, for many office-based professions, working two consecutive days out of sight of one’s team and/or manager was an exception. It took a massive strike, 3 cm of snow over the Paris region (10 in the Rhône-Alpes region!), or being unwell.
In any case, it was a way of working that was looked upon somewhat unfavourably, and reciprocally so.
The successive lockdowns and remote working requirements have, by necessity, changed things. And even if everyone agrees that remote work cannot become the norm, that in-person teamwork will always be necessary and regular, mindsets have shifted. Lastingly. Especially among younger generations. We’ve also learned to work remotely, and gained encouragement or acquired greater autonomy.
Organising a few consecutive days of remote work has thus become entirely possible.
Whether travelling in France, in Europe, or on the other side of the world, the technical means to stay connected are now reliable and efficient. Staying in a lodge, a hotel… that offers this digital access is entirely feasible, even in the most remote places on the planet.
So why not consider extending a trip to work on site?
Moreover, “travelling less, travelling better” (for longer, in this case) is beneficial for the planet.
