Norway

Where the sea meets the peaks

Tailor-made travel in Norway

Deep fjords, coastal roads, fishing villages and mountains plunging into the sea: Norway is a country shaped by water. From the fjords of the West to the Lofoten Islands, through to the Lyngen Alps and the Arctic fringes, it reveals itself slowly, far from standardised circuits.

The regions of Norway
To the West, the fjords trace cliffs, waterfalls and ferry crossings that are part of the journey itself. Beyond the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands line up fishing villages, stilt cabins, beaches and jagged peaks. Further north, the Tromsø region and the Lyngen Alps offer ski touring, Arctic fjords and wide open spaces, on land as much as at sea.

Our way of discovering Norway
Norway is a major land of Scandinavian architecture. We select addresses where contemporary design converses with the landscape: lodges opening onto the sea, secluded cabins, villas facing the water. Our itineraries alternate adventure and contemplation, singular nights and authentic encounters.

A journey designed with you
Each journey is built around your wishes, the season and your pace, not from a catalogue.

6 good reasons to visit Norway

  • AN ARCTIC JOURNEY BETWEEN SEA AND MOUNTAIN
  • UNUSUAL ACCOMMODATIONS AND PRIVATE ISLANDS
  • AS SUITED TO RELAXATION AS TO ADVENTURE
  • WHALE WATCHING AND MARINE WILDLIFE IN ARCTIC WATERS
  • SPECTACULAR SCENIC ROUTES
  • A SENSE OF BEING AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD

Norway differently, between Nordic design and singular adventures

Choosing Étendues Sauvages means discovering a Norway that goes well beyond its iconic fjords. A major showcase of Scandinavian architecture, the country holds unusual addresses where contemporary design converses with grand landscapes, from secluded cabins to lodges opening onto the sea.

In the Lyngen Alps, adventure unfolds to the rhythm of the mountains and the Arctic, between ski touring, descents down to the fjords and nights under the northern lights. Elsewhere, surfers ride under the midnight sun, and boats head out to sea in search of whales and marine wildlife. Here, fishing villages keep their traditions alive, Arctic landscapes lie frozen in the cold, and bold bridges span the islets. Not to mention the scenic routes that cross the country, between vertiginous cliffs, fjords and mountains.

We design tailor-made itineraries that blend contemplative experiences with active adventures, singular nights and authentic encounters, to experience Norway on land as much as at sea.
Our philosophy: explore without dominating, observe without disturbing, and take in nature without seeking to control it. Journeys crafted with great attention to detail, to discover the country differently and live rare experiences, in harmony with the places travelled through.

When to go to Norway

Budget to plan for

Norway can be discovered on a short escape as much as on a major journey, in summer as in winter. The budget depends above all on the length of stay, the level of comfort desired and the experiences you wish to have.

For a first long-weekend escape, expect between 2000 {devise} and 2500 {devise} per person for a tailor-made stay combining characterful accommodations and carefully selected activities.

For a trip of one week to 10 days, plan a budget between 4000 {devise} and 10000 {devise} per person to explore the country further, in summer as in winter. A route with two or three stops (or more for a self-drive road trip), an itinerary punctuated with exclusive experiences: the possibilities are many. The budget varies according to the category of accommodations, distances covered, modes of transport and chosen activities.

For an immersive journey of at least three weeks, expect between 12,000 {devise} and 20,000 {devise} per person for an itinerary across several regions of the country. An opportunity to take the time to discover varied landscapes, stay at exceptional addresses and have more private, intimate experiences: boat outings, guided excursions, unusual transfers or nights in remarkable accommodations and gastronomic pleasures.

Norway offers countless ways to travel. The key is to build an itinerary that suits you, finding the right balance between discovery, comfort and memorable experiences.

Important: these amounts are indicative and vary according to the season and the chosen itinerary.

Expert advice

Norway can be discovered in a thousand ways. Whether you wish to set off on an adventure, explore its wide open spaces or simply recharge in exceptional lodges, our main advice is to take your time. Each experience deserves to be fully lived, without watching the clock or rushing from one stop to the next.

If the length of your stay allows, we like to combine experiences close to nature, sometimes with a rustic and authentic character, with more comfortable interludes at carefully chosen addresses. This contrast between adventure and ease, simplicity and refinement, gives the journey its full richness and makes it a deeply memorable experience.
