Sample tailor-made journey, fully customisable
Alaska
7 days / 5 nights
May to September
On arrival in Alaska, you will spend your first night in Anchorage. Your private guide will take you around the city, including a visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
The next day, your driver will take you to Merrill Field, where you will take off for a first flight over the wild, pristine landscape, as far as McCarthy. There, you will be met by the lodge’s pilot and guide, and fly on together to the lodge. Isolation in such an untouched setting has to be earned! These flights behind you, the everyday stresses and concerns will already feel far away, leaving you free to enjoy a unique immersion in Wrangell St Elias National Park, where you will stay for 4 nights.
The philosophy of the Claus family, who have owned and run the lodge since it was built in the 1950s, is this: “Nature is wild and unpredictable. We let it guide us, not the other way around, so every day is different.”
There is no set itinerary here. By the time you open your eyes in the morning, your hosts are already studying the sky. The Claus family and their experienced local guides will help you choose the activity best suited to your level of experience and your interests.
The best – and only – way to explore this remote land is to let Paul, one of Alaska’s finest bush pilots, guide you. He will fly you safely over whatever obstacles lie ahead, and open the door to the many adventures on offer here: glacier exploration, hiking and trekking across alpine tundra or boreal rainforest, wildlife observation (bears, big game, birds), rafting, mountaineering, and more.
All activities at Ultima Thule Lodge are, of course, 100% tailor-made, adapted to each guest’s interests, wishes and level of fitness.

After this wilderness immersion, you will fly back to Anchorage by the same air route you took on arrival.
From there, you will catch your international flight back to France.
