The spirit of the journey

At first glance, the American wilderness is breathtaking. Vast glaciers with snow-capped peaks reflected in emerald-green rivers, narrow valleys, deep gorges with colorful rock walls hiding massive waterfalls... Montana and Wyoming are the quintessence of America’s wide open spaces and wild nature.

Elk, moose, bison and grizzly bears are abundant here. Home to the Sioux, Cheyenne, Blackfeet and Crow peoples for thousands of years, this region is where the myth of the conquest of the West was forged. The itinerary we propose here brings together the finest hikes in the region, through Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier National Parks.

Undoubtedly one of our finest examples of a journey through the United States.

GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK
After your arrival and first night in Salt Lake City, pick up your rental vehicle and drive to Grand Teton. Picnic at the foot of mountains rising to nearly 4,000m, by Lake Jackson or along the way. Late afternoon hike. Settle in for 3 nights on the edge of Grand Teton National Park. We recommend the String Lake trail.
Explore the striking landscapes of Grand Teton National Park. On foot or by car, a bend in the trail may reveal an elk or a bison. Keep an eye out for wolves as well.
Continue exploring the park around Jenny Lake, Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point and Cascade Canyon.
If you wish, you can also take a horseback ride at Colter Bay.

YELLOWSTONE
Head north to the canyon area of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is a vast national park covering nearly 9,000 km² across Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. You’ll spend 3 nights in the park.
Hike around the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, a favorite subject of landscape painters. The Clear Lake, Artist Point and South Rim trail forms a superb 7 km loop with little elevation gain.
Then discover the finest geysers in the world. The site stretches 3 km along the Firehole River and 1.6 km wide, home to 140 geysers — a fifth of the world’s total. Admire the famous Mammoth Hot Springs, followed by the Upper and Lower Terraces.

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
After an overnight stop in Missoula, drive north toward Glacier National Park. Your hotel in Kalispell, at the park’s west entrance, will be your base for a first exploration.
Continue on to the eastern side of the park for further discoveries. Glacier National Park holds around forty glaciers, formed less than 10,000 years ago. 3 days to explore this unique park.
On foot, of course, is the best way to take in the park’s natural wonders. The most popular hike leads to Hidden Lake, offering a remarkable viewpoint over the surrounding area partway along the trail.

SALT LAKE CITY
Leave Glacier National Park heading south to reach the ghost town of Bannack. After a night in Dillon, drive a full day to Salt Lake City. Arrival and city tour. Capital of Utah, Salt Lake City takes its name from its proximity to the Great Salt Lake. It hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002. Last night in Salt Lake City before your return flight to France.
