The spirit of the journey

Spending Christmas in a truly magical place — who hasn’t thought of it? Set on more than 500 hectares of wilderness within the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, this very private lodge is an extraordinary place to spend Christmas.
It is the ultimate “bubble”: privacy, space, an incredible array of facilities and activities, and your own dedicated staff. The quintessence of travelling in complete security. With wild reindeer as neighbours and unforgettable elves creating magical moments on the way to Santa’s private cabin, this is a truly magical time of year to visit — and that’s before even considering the remarkable Northern Lights safaris.
You won’t have to worry about a thing: meals, activities, warm clothing — we’ve thought of everything.

THE MAGIC BEGINS
After a long but exciting wait, the day has finally arrived. It’s time to see the forests and snow-capped mountains of Lapland and join Santa’s team of helpers. Stepping off the plane, you are welcomed and taken to Octola, a large wooden villa set in Lapland’s wilderness, where you will spend the week. If you wish, you can climb aboard a sledge and cover the last stretch of the journey to the lodge pulled by reindeer. Wrapped up warm and tucked into the sledge, you set off through a forest that looks as though it has come straight out of a fairy tale!

Octola

CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS
Seven nights lie ahead, and you won’t forget them any time soon.
During your stay, nothing is left to chance, in the purest tradition of a Lapland Christmas — including choosing your own tree in the snow-covered forest during a snowshoe outing. You will then decorate it after a fine meal prepared by your chef.
The magic of Christmas also means learning the tricks and techniques of baking, from delicious mini pies to the secret recipe for gingerbread.
The elves love bathing in Lapland’s clear waters — and, oddly enough, even in winter! Your turn awaits: a plunge into the icy water, followed by the promise of warming up in the gentle heat of a Finnish sauna.
The programme also includes a visit to one of the most enchanting and secret places of all, Santa’s workshop!

NORDIC ACTIVITIES
A snowmobile ride is a highlight of any Arctic adventure, not to be missed.
Through forests and over snow-covered hills, you will venture deep into the wilderness, where few have gone before.
You’ll have the chance to glide across a frozen lake and experience the speed, freedom and thrill of driving.
If travelling with children, they can try driving their own mini skidoo, while the adults enjoy hot snacks around the campfire.
A memorable encounter with reindeer is also on the programme — you will be able to feed them and feel the calming presence of this iconic Lapland animal.
You’ll also get to try one of the elves’ favourite winter activities: turning a block of snow into a beautiful sculpture, using different tools to create your own piece of snow art and discovering the secrets of sculpting techniques.

La Laponie

Lapland pays no heed to modern territorial borders, stretching across the northern parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland; it is the northernmost region of Scandinavia.
Lapland casts a powerful spell: there is something solitary and intangible about it that fills it with Arctic magic. The midnight sun, the Sami people, the northern lights and roaming reindeer are all part of it – as is Santa Claus himself, officially “residing” on Finnish soil – along with remarkable latitudes: at North Cape in Norway, the northernmost point in Europe, you have passed Iceland and nearly all of Canada and Alaska.

Settled across the northernmost regions of Finland, Norway and Sweden, as well as north-western Russia, the Sami are the only indigenous people still present within the territory of the European Union. Their population numbers 6,000 in Finland, where the protection of their language and culture, both under threat of extinction, is overseen by the Sami Parliament, an autonomous institution based in Inari.

24 DECEMBER
It’s time to meet the adorable husky dogs and set off on a sledge ride!
As you glide across the snow and through the landscape, the dogs’ barking fades, and all you can hear is
the thud of paws and the sound of the sledge gliding over the snow. The magical white landscape rushes by as the dogs pick up speed. Their joy in
pulling the sledge is contagious.
Afterwards, you’ll have time at the kennels to visit the dogs and their puppies before heading back to the lodge to enjoy a delicious Christmas dinner and get ready for the evening.
Day has turned to night, the stars are shining and everything is ready for Santa’s arrival.
Lanterns, outdoor candles and a large campfire light up the yard. The appetising aroma of various delicacies prepared in
Santa’s kitchen drifts through the air. Christmas music plays, and some of the elves are already dancing and jumping to the rhythm.
Suddenly, you hear the subtle sound of sledge bells.
A familiar face in a red suit approaches. The guest of honour has arrived, and the celebration can begin!
