SOUTHERN LIPEZ AND THE UYUNI SALT FLAT
Meet your French-speaking Bolivian driver-guide and begin your 4-day journey through southern Bolivia to the spectacular Salar de Uyuni.
Over these 4 days, you will travel by 4×4 between lagoons, salt deserts, rustic small villages and volcanoes.
Beyond crossing the Salar de Uyuni and spending a night on its surface, the itinerary includes walks and ascents along volcano slopes:
– Laguna Verde, at the foot of the Licancabur volcano: as the wind picks up, the lagoon turns emerald green…
– The red-hued Laguna Colorada and its pink flamingos.
– The fumaroles of the Sol de Mañana geysers
– The spectacular Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt desert in the world
– Isla Pescado and its giant cacti
– An excursion at the foot of the Tunupa volcano
– Sajama National Park and the surrounding villages.
You will spend 4 nights in small refuges with rustic but comfortable facilities, each with a private bathroom, hot water and supplementary heating. Each stage of the journey offers an excellent setting.
Not to be missed: a night at a salt hotel on the edge of the Salar de Uyuni!

LAUCA NATIONAL PARK
After crossing Sajama National Park, the route continues to Lake Chungará, the highest lake in the world. It is in this Chilean Altiplano landscape, dominated by snow-capped volcanoes including the Payachatas, that you will enter Lauca National Park, the highlight of your journey. Overnight in the small village of Putre.
The following day, head to the small village of Socoroma to visit its striking church.
Continue through the Quebrada de los Cardones, where magnificent candelabra cacti grow in the desert. Before reaching Arica, you will pass through the Azapa valley, where you can visit the San Miguel archaeological museum.
You will spend the night in Arica before flying back to Santiago and boarding your international return flight.
