The spirit of the stay

Secrets of History and wonders of the maquis in Southern Corsica, at the Domaine de Murtoli.
Between Sartène and Bonifacio, the crystal-clear waters of the Ortolo river have carved the relief of a lush valley. It is one of those secluded havens that only Corsica knows how to keep. Between Sartène and Bonifacio, the crystal-clear waters of the Ortolo river have carved the relief of a lush valley. It is one of those secluded havens that only Southern Corsica knows how to keep.
There are others that will reveal themselves to you along a path deep in the maquis or down an alley of old Sartène, telling the singular history of the people of this island world. That is the very essence of this enchanting 4-day/3-night parenthesis we have designed for you. It combines our selection of cultural discoveries with the magic of an extraordinary stay at the Domaine de Murtoli.
Spread over 2,500 hectares between sea and maquis, this rare address offers all the qualities of a high-end hotel while resembling no other. Some twenty 17th-century sheepfolds and residences scattered across this Mediterranean-scented setting have been patiently restored in a rustic-chic spirit that suits the place.
An added soul that will leave its mark on you.

A new, unconventional “hotel”, made up of nine Rooms and Suites, opened its doors in June 2021, completing the possibilities offered by the estate. Not to be missed!

For this immersion, we have planned the following activities:

– a full-day cultural excursion with guide and lecturer Paul Poli, exploring the ancestral pastoral life of the Ortolo valley, the Genoese ruins and the megalithic site (departing from the estate). Picnic prepared by the Chef of the Domaine de Murtoli.

– a visit to a Sartène winery (Clos Canarelli, Domaine Saparale or Castellu di Baricci)

– a one-hour massage at the Domaine’s Spa

– a half-day of private visits: discovering Sartène and its polyphonic art centre, visits to a fine cutlery workshop and a bronze and wood sculpture workshop.

There is so much to explore and experience at the Domaine de Murtoli and its surroundings… Who better than Paul Poli to accompany you on your first day of exploration?
A naturalist guide and lecturer, author of the documentary series Fora Di Strada on France 3 Corse, he will tell you with passion the history of the people of the Ortolo Valley, from the Neolithic era to the 17th century.

Other exceptional moments await you during this stay. A visit will highlight other fruits of the Corsican terroir: its vines and their nectars. A half-day will also be devoted to the artisanal traditions of Sartène, where you will discover, among other things, the secrets of the wonderful Corsican polyphonic songs.
