The spirit of the journey

Head north to Iceland's more secluded region, where the landscapes seem to stretch into infinity. Around the Diamond Circle, the road winds between volcanic lands, lava fields, dramatic waterfalls, and valleys shaped by the elements.

Mývatn: a steaming volcanic North

For several days, you explore the shores of Lake Mývatn and a region shaped by intense volcanic activity: the steaming grounds of Hverir, at the foot of Námafjall, the lava formations of Dimmuborgir, the craters, and the powerful Goðafoss falls. Depending on your itinerary, Dettifoss and the Ásbyrgi cliffs complete this circuit. You stay at Vogafjós Farm Resort, a family-run farm just steps from the lake.

Húsavík: in search of whales

Further north, the small port of Húsavík, facing Skjálfandi Bay, takes you out on a restored schooner cruise: whales, dolphins, and, depending on conditions, orcas, as well as puffins nesting on Lundey Island. Sightings depend on the season and sea conditions.

Siglufjörður and Forest Lagoon: fjords and warm waters

Volcanic lands give way to the green valleys and steep ridges of the Tröllaskagi peninsula, leading to Siglufjörður, a village nestled at the head of a fjord. You spend two nights here at Sigló Hótel, overlooking the small harbor. Then, near Akureyri, a relaxing break at Forest Lagoon: geothermal pools with views over Eyjafjörður.

A 6-day itinerary, from June to September, at the heart of a wild, mineral Iceland, where fire, water, and ice have shaped some of the country's most striking landscapes.

Sigló Hótel

At the heart of the small port of Siglufjörður, surrounded by the mountains of the Tröllaskagi peninsula, the Sigló Hotel offers a peaceful retreat facing the fjord. Its warm atmosphere, inspired by the village's maritime history, invites you to slow down and take in the setting.

Forest Lagoon

After a day spent crossing the wild landscapes of northern Iceland, it’s time to slow down…

A few minutes from Akureyri, a road winds gently into Vaðlaskógur forest. Here, between the trees and the mountains, lies Forest Lagoon, a hidden refuge set above the fjord.

You slip into pleasantly warm geothermal water and almost immediately the pace changes. Eyjafjörður stretches out ahead, framed by mountains. Steam hovers over the water, the silence of the forest wraps around the pools, and you simply stay there, taking in the landscape.

Throughout the experience, you move between the warmth of the lagoons and the panoramic sauna, before, for the braver ones, a few moments in the cold pool. Then you return, gladly, to the warm water and its uninterrupted views over the fjord.

And why not reach the bar directly from the pool, order a drink, and stretch this moment out a little longer?

As the light fades over the mountains, Forest Lagoon takes on an almost otherworldly atmosphere.
In winter, snow and long nights wrap the landscape in a fairytale-like stillness. With a bit of luck, the northern lights light up the sky, completing this enchanting setting.

A suspended moment, between forest, warm water and the vastness of Iceland.

After exploring the wild landscapes of northern Iceland, head back toward Reykjavík.

Make the most of this final drive to take in Iceland’s vast landscapes one last time before reaching Keflavík, where you’ll spend the night near the airport ahead of your return flight the next day.
