The spirit of the journey

This incredible arctic adventure is an exceptional journey to Canada. It is no ordinary polar bear-watching safari. This is an epic adventure, a true expedition by small plane. We take you to a camp roughly 140 km north of Churchill, on the shores of Hudson Bay.

This is a unique opportunity to observe one of the world's most impressive predators while remaining at ground level. Thanks to the electric fences surrounding and protecting the camp, you will be able to observe and photograph polar bears on foot, at a distance you would not have imagined possible, without compromising your safety.

Rather than tracking and photographing bears from above, aboard a tundra buggy jostling for position among dozens of others, you will be alone in observing arctic wildlife along the shores of Hudson Bay. A true immersion at the heart of the wild nature of the Canadian Far North awaits you.

Each day, depending on the weather, you will go out accompanied by experienced Inuit guides and your expedition leader. These outings are also opportunities to encounter other iconic species such as arctic fox, arctic hare and snowy owl, as well as martens and wolverines. Not to mention magnificent landscapes, and perhaps even the northern lights.

This is not merely a photo safari — it is an immersion into the land of polar bears, the Inuit, and the subtleties of the tundra. This experience will leave you with lasting memories.

Day 1: Paris – Winnipeg
International flights to Winnipeg, Canada.
Arrival in the late afternoon and overnight at a hotel near the airport.

Day 2: Winnipeg – Churchill – Base camp
In the morning, return to Winnipeg airport to check in for your flight to Churchill.

Welcome upon arrival in Churchill and immediate departure for the base camp, set up roughly 140 km to the north, on the shores of Hudson Bay.

Arrival at camp for lunch.

Settle in and begin your stay photographing arctic wildlife from the secure, open ground around the camp.

No outing beyond the camp for this first afternoon.

5-night stay at the camp, full board.

You will be accompanied by a team of two experienced Inuit guides, who have received special training from Nunavut tourism authorities on safety rules and on enforcing proper visitor behaviour when approaching polar bears on foot, along with a cook and an English-speaking expedition leader overseeing the smooth running of your stay.

The camp consists of 5 cabins (4 for visitors and 1 for staff) and a larger cabin serving as communal space.

You will stay in very simple, but warm and comfortable cabins.

This is far from luxury, but each cabin is designed for two people, with an entryway to store your photographic equipment, a main room with two single beds, a table for your laptop, and space to store bags and clothing.

The cabins are heated, and electricity is generated from morning to evening.
Private toilet and shower. There is no running water in the cabins.

Meals are taken in the main cabin, which also has a “lounge” area.

To keep bears at a distance and allow you to move around safely, the entire camp is surrounded by an electric fence running throughout the day and part of the night. Your own vigilance is still required.

Days 3-5: Base camp
Days spent observing and photographing polar bears and arctic wildlife.

Day 6: Churchill
Last morning at the camp for your final photographs before returning to Churchill, where our representative will help you check in at the hotel. After check-in, enjoy a tour of the historic town followed by a group dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7: Churchill – Winnipeg
Have a hot breakfast at a local restaurant, followed by a half-day guided tour on polar bears in the Churchill region.

Departure from Churchill and arrival in Winnipeg in the late afternoon or evening, where you will stay at a hotel near the airport.

Overnight in Winnipeg.

You may choose to stay a few extra days in Churchill to go on tundra excursions and track down polar bears for a more “classic” style of observation.

Day 8: Winnipeg – Paris
Return to Paris during the day.
Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 9: Paris
Arrival in Paris.
