Aboard the Commandant Charcot, a technological flagship and the first polar exploration vessel with hybrid LNG/electric propulsion, you sail through a world as fascinating as it is elusive. Here, everything is in motion: the ice sheet fractures, drifts, and reforms in an almost unreal silence, broken only by the sound of the wind and the cracking of the ice.

Day by day, light becomes the spectacle of the journey. Nights are sometimes set ablaze by the northern lights, while daytime reveals a sovereign wildlife: polar bears foraging for food, curious seals, whales surfacing from the dark waters.

Then comes the long-awaited moment: reaching this ultimate point and, weather permitting, setting foot on the frozen surface of the geographic North Pole, located 700 km from any emerged land. A suspended moment, a raw emotion, the feeling of being at the end of the world.

Departing from Longyearbyen, the capital of Svalbard, prepare for an unforgettable navigation through sumptuous landscapes in constant flux, shaped by the movement of ice and shifting light.
Following the rhythm of wildlife observations — particularly abundant at this time of year — you will reach the pack ice. From there begins a slow progression through this silent world, frozen by extreme cold, heading toward the Grail of every polar explorer: the North Pole!

Le fil conducteur de ces réalisations : faire entrer la lumière et offrir une ouverture sur les paysages polaires extraordinaires.

Ce premier navire d’exploration polaire hybride électrique propulsé au GNL a été pensé avec la plus grande attention en matière de sécurité et de respect de l’environnement.

Activités à bord du Commandant Charcot

En plus des traditionnelles sorties en zodiac, de nouvelles activités sont proposées sur la plupart des prochaines départs.
Par exemple, vous pourrez glisser en kayak de mer entre les icebergs, effectuer des randonnées à pied ou en raquettes. Les plongeurs expérimentés pourront plonger avec des bouteilles le long d'un iceberg ou d'un tombant entre anémones, coraux mous ou isopodes géants.
En Arctique, vous pourrez vous lancer dans des balades en traîneau à chiens ou essayer la pêche blanche.
Vous pourrez aussi expérimenter l'aéroglisseur, sur terre comme sur mer, pour rejoindre des territoires normalement difficiles, voire impossibles d'accès. Ils vous déposeront au cœur d'un univers extrême, fait de glace et de silence.
