Example of a tailor-made journey, fully customisable
Colombie
7 days / 5 nights
After a first night in Bogotá on arrival, explore the Candelaria district on foot, the city’s historic centre, with its colourful houses and colonial architecture. Your private guide recounts the now-past, turbulent period of Colombia’s history and the dawn of a new era, reflected in Bogotá’s artistic energy. The capital’s walls are covered in frescoes, graffiti and murals, a walk set to the rhythm of the sound of freedom. Don’t miss the essential Gold Museum, where pieces meticulously crafted by pre-Columbian hands are on display.
Then a flight to the Llanos, in the province of Casanare, between wetlands and mountains where remarkable wildlife thrives.
THE LLANOS
The Llanos region offers, in turn, a fine lesson in humility.
The reserve covers 9,000 hectares, of which 2,000 hectares are reserved exclusively for our guests. You’ll find more than 220 bird species, including the famous Corocora (scarlet ibis), and a variety of animals such as pumas, jaguars, deer, anteaters, alligators, foxes, capybaras, anacondas, howler monkeys and wild horses.
It is in this setting that Corocora Camp offers a uniquely comfortable accommodation option: 4 ultra-comfortable tents and 1 communal tent, where nothing is left to chance. The chef prepares every meal with produce from neighbouring farms or local markets, drawing on traditional cuisine for his recipes. Meals are planned around your activities at observation sites, or served at the communal table, ideal for sharing experiences. Large hammocks hung between the trees allow for ultimate relaxation, while private outdoor terraces are perfect for meals, wildlife watching and admiring the region’s blazing sunsets. The camp has running water and electricity, combining solar panels and a generator, to offer the utmost comfort in the heart of nature.
On the programme: safaris on foot, by 4×4, on horseback and by canoe, birdwatching with an expert, and privileged exchanges with the llaneros, whose cultural traditions remain beautifully preserved.
And because nature is our priority, your stay at Corocora contributes to the preservation and protection of vast areas of Colombian wilderness for future generations.
Working closely with our partner foundation, Cunaguaro, a stay at Corocora Camp helps fund wildlife research through species-specific studies and the search for new strategies to mitigate threats to biodiversity, particularly jaguars, pumas and ocelots. We also empower neighbouring communities by encouraging local landowners to value feline conservation and ecotourism as a viable source of income, one that protects both their land from industrial expansion and the animals that inhabit it. You’re invited to join the biologists in setting up camera traps to track the movements of these big cats and help protect these important species.
