The spirit of the journey

There are still places where silence stretches as far as the eye can see, where snow-covered forests seem endless, and where it sometimes takes no more than looking up to witness one of nature’s finest spectacles. This 8-day journey through Swedish Lapland, from November to March, takes you into the Arctic through two distinctive addresses, each in its own way.

Aurora Safari Camp: the spirit of African safaris, Arctic style

The journey begins on the banks of the Råne river, in a camp built on a human scale, rustic and warm. Its owners, Jonas and Naila, drew inspiration from African safari camps to offer a nomadic form of luxury where Scandinavian simplicity meets Sami identity.

The programme is flexible, with no fixed itinerary: dog sledding, snowshoeing, exploring Nordic landscapes, or simply enjoying the quiet, depending on your wishes, the weather and the rhythm of nature. The fire brings everyone together, and after nightfall the Arctic sky may offer the spectacle of the northern lights.

The Outpost Lodge: an isolated house, just for you

Then the pace slows, in a former post office turned family house in the middle of the forest. It is entirely private, with no reception desk or set programme. Your hosts share their Lapland with you, accompany you on activities and prepare generous meals each day using produce from northern Sweden.

Snowshoes or traditional skis straight from the door, then sauna and a Nordic bath while waiting for the first glimmers of the northern lights: this is not just a place to sleep, it is a way of living Lapland.

A fully tailor-made journey, between heritage, nature and Scandinavian art de vivre, to experience the Arctic winter from within. The northern lights remain a natural phenomenon that we cannot guarantee.

The journey begins in a snow-covered forest setting, at the heart of Swedish Lapland. Here, the experience echoes the spirit of African safari camps, reinterpreted for the Arctic world. A camp built on a human scale, rustic and warm, where small paths wind between the trees and connect the different spaces.

Day after day, nature becomes the field of exploration: setting out by dog sled, venturing out on snowshoes, discovering Nordic landscapes, or simply enjoying the quiet of the surroundings. The programme is entirely flexible, with no fixed itinerary, so as to adapt to the mood of the moment, weather conditions and the rhythm of nature. A precious freedom that allows each day to be lived differently, following opportunities and discoveries as they arise.

Throughout the day, the fire brings everyone together, while after nightfall, the Arctic sky may offer the spectacle of the northern lights.

A first stage centred on immersion, where one rediscovers the pleasure of living outdoors, close to nature, in a simple and deeply unfamiliar atmosphere.

Aurora Safari Camp

After immersion in the heart of the wilderness, the journey continues toward another facet of Arctic Sweden.

The energy of outdoor adventures gives way to a gentler pace, an invitation to savour the moment, contemplate the landscapes and let oneself be enveloped by the stillness of the wide open spaces. Time seems to slow down, making room for those precious moments when nothing is urgent.

The history of the place blends with the surrounding landscapes, offering a new perspective on the Arctic and extending the Nordic adventure in an atmosphere full of character, between heritage, nature and Scandinavian art de vivre.

The Outpost Lodge,

The Outpost Lodge
