BOGOTA
Flight to Bogota.
During your stay in Bogota with your French-speaking guide, a walking tour of La Candelaria, the city’s historic centre, a neighbourhood of colourful houses and colonial architecture. You will then continue to Bolivar Square (Plaza Mayor) and the Gold Museum with a specialist guide, an Art professor.
The following day your guide will take you to Zipaquira, the Salt Cathedral — unless you would rather explore the Andean capital further, visit an emerald workshop or an artist’s studio with a specialist.
Your accommodation is located in the upscale district of the city, close to restaurants — the perfect balance of contemporary decor, warm atmosphere and personalised service.
The hotel’s service will give you that rare sense of being at home.
THE COFFEE REGION
The coffee tradition is the most emblematic symbol of Colombian national culture, and what has given Colombia its worldwide renown. It is this heritage that Unesco sought to preserve by inscribing the Colombian Coffee Cultural Landscape as a World Heritage Site in 2011. A place of incredible beauty, clinging to vertiginous mountain slopes and home to shade-grown coffee, where the cherries ripen more slowly than in full sun and have time to develop far more subtle aromas. Tasting here is a must!
It is in this setting that Hacienda Bambusa opens its doors to you. More than a hotel from which to explore the region, it is a chance to be immersed in a working farm steeped in authenticity and genuine Colombian hospitality.
Its architecture, inspired by the Spanish style, is typical of the country’s coffee fincas. Fired clay tiles cap an upper floor connected by a wooden staircase. Supported by a series of bamboo columns, the upper floor overlooks a rolling, deep-green landscape, barely veiled by trails of mist stretching into the distance. The scenery is breathtaking, and the diversity of flora and fauna makes it a small paradise.
The eight impeccably appointed rooms, spacious and comfortable, each have a private balcony or terrace overlooking the pool or the garden.
As with many other coffee farms, tourism and crop diversification — plantain, macadamia nuts, pineapples, guavas and other exotic fruits — have allowed the farm to survive the coffee crisis that has persisted since the 1980s-1990s. A sustainable agriculture, respectful of both ecology and people. As you enter the hacienda, you pass through plantations of cassava, orange trees and pineapples.
Surrounded by mountains, bamboo forests, rivers and streams, the region is an exceptional playground offering a wealth of activities suited to everyone. As a family, as a couple or with friends, on foot, on horseback, by 4×4, by hot-air balloon — there is no shortage of things to do! Visit a cocoa plantation to learn more about the harvesting and production process, walk around the property to take in the wildlife-rich landscape, visit the ranch on horseback, or go bamboo rafting.
During your stay, we will offer you a hot-air balloon flight over the region (included in the indicative budget).
CARTAGENA DE INDIAS
Colombia’s Cartagena: the narrow streets have regained their sensual atmosphere, the old houses their fiery colours. The fortified city of the conquistadors has been named the Pearl of the Caribbean. Listed as a World Heritage Site, Cartagena de Indias blends an impressive colonial heritage with a distinctly Caribbean effervescence.
A walking tour of the historic centre, from narrow streets to plazas, to the rhythm of cumbia colombiana.
Then by bicycle, discover the Getsemaní district, more working-class and culturally mixed.
Board your private boat for an escapade in the Rosario and San Bernardo Corals National Natural Park, dedicated to protecting significant coral reefs — a true ecological treasure.
