Over the past few years, striking lodges have been emerging across Africa, often featuring modern architecture and meticulously crafted interiors. They are beautiful, but this excess of design can strip them of a certain African essence, giving the impression that they could be located anywhere in the world.
Sometimes, the promise of an exceptional safari lies elsewhere.
Location and quality of service matter. The expertise of the guides matters even more. A modest camp, far from the crowds, will appeal to those seeking an authentic, genuine safari. Unforgettable.
Here are a few suggestions drawn from our African collection.
To experience these rare moments, at the heart of nature.
BOTSWANA – Bush camp in private concessions
Botswana is reviving bush camps in the private – and renowned – concessions of Sandibe and Nxabega. Two gems that will satisfy even the most demanding “African lovers” in search of wildlife. With very attractive rates (compared to the lodges and fixed camps located within these same concessions), this is an opportunity worth seizing while it still lasts…!
TANZANIA – Private bush camp from north to south
For more than 25 years, we have been travelling across Tanzania from north to south, putting our experience at your service to help you discover preserved corners of the country, working alongside demanding partners who respect nature.
These private camps in Serengeti National Park and Ruaha National Park bring back the experiences we had in the early 2000s.
And while more comfortable, they retain that spirit of adventure and disconnection we cherish so much!
ZAMBIA – On the banks of the Luangwa River
Zambia, and South Luangwa in particular, is the birthplace of the walking safari.
Your bush camp will be set up right along the river, allowing you to explore the surrounding area on foot as well as by open 4×4 vehicle.
Don’t expect to sleep in… the hippos will take care of waking you well before sunrise!
BOTSWANA – The camp goes nomadic
It’s hard to get more traditional than this.
The camp moves every two days, following the course of your safari, allowing you to discover the eastern part of the Okavango Delta, including the Moremi Reserve, before heading to Chobe National Park and the river of the same name, which marks the country’s northern border with Namibia. A short hop will then take you to the legendary Victoria Falls, in Zimbabwe.
An African adventure to experience over more than a week with the camp’s support team and your guide, in a small group or with family.
ZIMBABWE – The Zambezi flows before you
Those who have followed us for a long time know it well: we have a particular attachment to Mana Pools, in Zimbabwe.
Several so-called “traditional” camps still remain along the Zambezi, whether within the national park or in a private concession. Either way, the light of sunsets over the river and the constant sense of disconnection will stay with you forever…
