In Praise of the Forest

The forest fascinates.
For some, it is a refuge for the soul. For others, a territory of mystery and legend.
Here, the passer-by is watched more than they watch. So, for a moment, they stop. They listen… for lack of seeing.

We invite you on a journey from Scandinavia to British Columbia, by way of Latin America: where trolls populate Nordic legends, where an odd long-tailed creature rivals Spirou and Fantasio, and where the Spirit Bear belongs as much to myth as to reality.

SWEDEN – The trolls are listening…
At the heart of the Swedish forests, Loggers Lodge seems to have stepped out of an old tale.
Amid silent pines and Nordic mist, it is said that trolls still keep watch beneath the moss-covered rocks… Legends speak of fierce spirits, protectors of the trees and guardians of the wild’s secrets.
Here, at night, everything becomes mystery.

COSTA RICA – Protecting Life
A stone’s throw from Piedras Blancas National Park, Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge offers absolute tranquility (*) and relaxation, for a total immersion in harmony with the nature surrounding this ecolodge, between the jungle and the Golfo Dulce.

(*) those unwilling to be lulled by the nocturnal song of frogs and woken at dawn by howler monkeys should look elsewhere…

PERU – Gaining Height
Who hasn’t dreamed of spending the night in a treetop cabin?
In the Peruvian Amazon, at the confluence of the Yarapa and Cumaceba rivers, lies a gem that Étendues Sauvages knows well. And since the Amazon always does things on a grand scale, breakfast can be served nearly 20 meters above the ground.

ECUADOR – An Encounter with the Emerald Forest
With 6 million km² spread across 9 countries, including Ecuador, the Amazon accounts for more than half of the planet’s tropical rainforests. Here, Sacha Lodge is deeply committed to an ethnic and eco-responsible approach.
Your stay will therefore have a real positive impact on local communities and the environment they strive to preserve.

BRAZIL – Amazon Navigation
A few days’ navigation on the Rio Negro will take you to the heart of Jaú National Park, where the Marsupilami, so dear to readers of Spirou and Fantasio, might just live. But Brazil is not Palombia, and we’ll make do with the immense riches offered by the Amazon’s biodiversity!

CANADA – Meeting the Spirit Bear
On foot or by boat, you can explore the Great Bear Rainforest from Spirit Bear Lodge. A journey designed for this autumn will let you watch for the Kermode bear (known as the Spirit Bear), as well as grizzlies hungrily hunting wild salmon swimming upstream, humpback whales, and sea otters. A program worthy of legend!
