Gone are the crowds, the standard circuits and the timed visits.
Far from mass tourism, I rediscovered an intimate, soothing Egypt — and one that proved far more compelling.
Last October, I had the privilege of rediscovering this unique experience: a cruise in Egypt on the Nile, combining refined comfort with cultural immersion.
A journey out of time in Egypt, along the Nile

From the very first moments, I sensed this journey would be different. The dahabieh, elegant without being ostentatious, put me at ease right away. There was that soothing silence, that intense blue all around. And the sensation of finally slowing down.
The stops moved me: forgotten coves, welcoming villages, sunsets that seemed to exist for me alone.
On board, everything flowed smoothly: delicious meals, an attentive crew, moments of solitude respected. I felt free, light, reconnected with myself.
This journey gave me a real pause, a bubble outside of time. It is a breath, a memory that lingers long after returning. My heart is still there, a little.
Sailing the Nile is a journey out of time. In recent years, dahabiyehs, traditional sailboats with understated elegance, have reappeared in growing numbers on the sacred river. Thanks to their more modest size, these dahabiyehs can reach secret corners of the Nile that large cruise ships cannot access, revealing intimate, unspoiled landscapes. Here, everything is tailor-made: private landing points, stops far from the crowds, dinners under the stars, attentive service.
We have selected a few, offering an exceptional cruise experience, both refined and discreet.
My favourites: Lazuli and Gaïa
The Lazuli, an invitation to serenity, ideal for soaking in the rhythm of the Nile.
The Gaïa, a brand-new vessel launched on the river in December 2024, a true floating gem. Its clean design and elegant atmosphere make it more than a simple boat: an exceptional place, combining refinement with respect for the environment.
Each stop then becomes a rare discovery: secret landscapes, forgotten villages, quiet temples. Everything is tailor-made: private landing points, dinners under the stars, an intimate atmosphere and attentive service.

Egypt, as told by its storytellers
Egypt is not simply visited, it is told. A prestige cruise in Egypt is not only a matter of sailing. It is also the art of meeting passionate guides, true storytellers. With them, the temples and monuments come to life: every stone recounts a legend, every story breathes new life into antiquity.
Among my strongest memories from this latest journey: the visit to the temples of Abu Simbel, reachable in just a few hours from Aswan. A moment of absolute wonder. Their monumental statues, their still-vivid colours and their symbolic power left me speechless. An experience etched in memory forever.
Serenity and personalised support
Throughout the journey, the local team ensured flawless organisation: flexibility, peace of mind and discreet support. I had only one task: to fully enjoy every moment.
Egypt, differently
A private Nile cruise aboard a dahabieh is far more than a journey. It is an immersion, an encounter with history and an experience that transforms. It is the discovery of an intimate Egypt, lived close to its people and in the gentleness of the Nile.
As ever, no one returns from a journey to Egypt quite the same as when they left.
