Airpano.com: interactive 360° 3D panoramas, seen from the sky

Here is a site of spectacular images and videos!

The group of Russian photographers behind the AirPano project set themselves the mission of offering high-definition 360° 3D panoramas of all the world’s most striking landscapes. For this non-commercial project, interactive virtual tours of the planet’s most interesting sites are created from aerial photographs, most often taken from a helicopter or a remote-controlled helicopter.

The virtual tour of Iguazu Falls is one example of vertigo-inducing views, looking straight down over the falls, like an angel’s leap! (take a look in particular at “Viewing Platform at the Devil’s Throat, Argentine Side, View 1”)

Their site AirPano.com already offers more than 1,000 panoramas of 130 sites, and new virtual tours are added to the collection every week.

The result is stunning. AirPano lets you see these exceptional sites as you’ve never seen them before, from entirely new angles. Particularly notable, the site offers interactive 360° videos. While watching them, you can direct the camera in any direction you choose, through the full 360°, as in this video of the eruption of the Plosky Tolbachik volcano in Kamchatka. You could almost believe you were on board the filming helicopter…
