Zimbabwe

Africa as you've always imagined it

Tailor-made trip to Zimbabwe

Cecil John Rhodes was not mistaken when he renamed this majestic and mystical hill in the Matopos, where he has rested for over a century. Today, Malindidzimu hill (“home of benevolent spirits” in Ndebele) can be seen as a symbol — so torn apart was Zimbabwe at the turn of the twenty-first century.

And yet the country possesses, as much as — if not more than — its southern African neighbours, breathtaking nature.
Here too, the legend of Dr Livingstone resonates in the hearts of the population and of those who experience a journey to Zimbabwe. Victoria Falls, “the smoke that thunders”, remain as spectacular and striking as ever. In Hwange, Kariba, or Mana Pools National Parks, safaris reveal exceptional wildlife — all under exceptional conditions.

Welcome, in the footsteps of Dr Livingstone.

When to travel to Zimbabwe

Budget to plan for

The lodges and tented camps we favour in Zimbabwe are intimate and exclusive, which explains their high cost.
To reach parks such as Matusadona National Park (on Lake Kariba) or Mana Pools National Park without overly long overland journeys, light aircraft transfers are necessary, which also has a significant impact on the budget.
To minimise this, it is possible to hire a rental vehicle in Harare to explore Great Zimbabwe and the Matopos, then continue to Hwange with a transfer before finishing at Victoria Falls. Budget at least 4,000–5,000 € per person for this type of itinerary.
For a more complete journey including Lake Kariba and Mana Pools, the minimum budget will be around 8,000 to 9,000 € per person, depending on the season and the category of accommodation.

Expert advice

It naturally depends on the sites you wish to visit, but we recommend at least ten days on the ground to allow time to properly explore at least 3 sites.
Zimbabwe offers many different facets: if you have more time and budget, a 15 to 20 day trip will let you discover them while fully living this remarkable journey.
