This week, focus on Costa Rica.
A country that can be visited year-round, though the ideal period, to my mind, runs from December to March, when it’s 2°C in Paris and 25°C… in the water of the Pacific!
A country the size of Switzerland, rich with exuberant nature — home to nearly 5% of the world’s biodiversity — ideal for a self-drive trip as a couple or a family, even with young children; amid active volcanoes, primary and cloud forests, and wild white-sand beaches on the Caribbean or Pacific coast.
Going to Costa Rica for 5 or 6 nights on the ground, as some travel operators suggest, makes no sense! That’s a lot of international flight time and a significant time difference for a stay far too short in a country that deserves at least 10 days.
It’s possible to design a very fine tailor-made trip to Costa Rica over about ten days on the ground, from approximately €2,000/2,200 all-in per person.
Budget a total of around €2,800/3,000 all-in if you wish to include a 4-day/3-night immersion in the Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park, the wildest and best-preserved region of the country.
