At dawn, you climb into the 4×4 for a safari. No engine noise, no sudden jolting, no exhaust fumes. You approach the animals in silence, the morning scent of the bush awakens your senses… Eternal Africa simply vibrates. Technology then seems far, very far away. And yet it has never been closer: in the vehicle, where the combustion engine has given way to an electric motor and the fuel tank to batteries; at the lodge, where a photovoltaic panel farm makes the lodge and vehicles self-sufficient, for a carbon footprint close to zero. In a few years, solar technology has made giant strides. So much so that an increasing number of ecolodges are investing in 100% solar power.
