Example of a tailor-made journey, fully customisable
Ouganda Rwanda
11 days / 9 nights
January and February, June to August
KIBALE
After a night in Entebbe, you will meet your private French-speaking guide and set off for Kibale Forest, where the chimpanzees await.
Along the way, you will see the western rift escarpment and explore part of Lake Albert.
You will spend 2 nights in a lodge near the park.
The following day, you will set out for a full day of chimpanzee habituation.
The chimpanzee habituation programme is a unique experience that allows you to follow a group of chimpanzees through their daily activities.
Accompanied by researchers and rangers from the Kibale reserve, you will join the chimpanzees as they wake and observe them throughout the day until they build their nests for the night.
You will thus take part in a Uganda Wildlife Authority initiative dedicated to habituating chimpanzees to human presence without interfering with their natural environment.

QUEEN ELIZABETH
Next comes Africa’s large wildlife, which you will discover on rich safaris in the Mweya area, the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
A boat excursion on the Kazinga Channel is one of the highlights of any Uganda safari.
The best time of day to observe animals on safari is early morning!
You will be able to watch the spectacular fights waged by kob to defend their territory. You may also spot lions, drawn in by the high concentration of potential prey.
After 2 nights at a lodge in Mweya, you will head south to Ishasha.
You will spend 1 night in the Ishasha sector, the most remote part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions!
VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (Rwanda)
One last morning 4×4 safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park before taking the road to Rwanda.
Along the way, you will make a few stops to photograph the region’s striking landscapes before crossing the border in the afternoon.
You will arrive in the Volcanoes National Park area at the end of the day.
You will stay 3 nights at a lodge located 15 minutes from the park entrance.
The following day, you will head to the base camp of the Rwanda Development Board’s tourism and national parks office.
You will meet your ranger guide(s) and receive information on the remarkable wildlife-watching experience ahead of you.
A vehicle will then take you to the slopes of one of the volcanoes, where your trek will begin.
After the hike, weather permitting, you will take an excursion to explore the region’s beautiful lakes (Lake Bulera and Lake Ruhondo).
Depending on conditions, you may enjoy a splendid view of the Virunga volcanic mountain range.
After a trek, you can also visit the traditional village of Iby’Iwacu, a tourism project built on the local economy, where villagers maintain a traditional way of life.
We stress that gorilla treks require good physical fitness, as they involve several hours of walking in demanding and sometimes difficult terrain.
The following day, you can take advantage of various activities on offer (at extra cost): a 2nd gorilla trek, golden monkey tracking, a visit to Dian Fossey’s tomb and research centre, a climb up Bisoke volcano, and more.
On the last day, you will head to Kigali, where you can visit the Genocide Memorial if you wish, before catching your evening flight.
