“Oman and the Sea” exhibition at the Paris Musée de la Marine

From 16 October 2013 to 5 January 2014, the Sultanate of Oman presents at the Musée national de la Marine in Paris “Oman and the Sea”, an exhibition tracing the fascinating history linking France to Oman’s maritime heritage. Spanning 5,000 years of history, this exhibition recounts the extraordinary adventure of a civilization that set out to face a raging sea aboard majestic ships built from a handful of planks. Omani sailors lived through extraordinary tales worthy of the legends told in The Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor.

Visitors are welcomed into a traditional Omani sitting room, from which they discover the hospitality and richness of this culture, still little known in France. This exhibition invites us on a journey, immersing us through maps, paintings, and rare models of the most majestic Omani vessels, such as the Bedan, the Zharookah or the Jewel of Muscat.

A genuine adventure, worthy of the Thousand and One Nights, that Etendues Sauvages invites you to discover.

New journeys to Oman have just been published on our website! Located at the crossroads of the legendary silk and frankincense routes, the richness of its history will surprise you and the beauty of its landscapes will enchant you!
