October 2019, new expedition along the Skeleton Coast

Extraordinary landscapes and atmosphere.

The feeling of being at the end of the world.

Towards the Kunene River
A film made in October 2018, by Christophe Courteau

For the third time in recent years, we are organizing a new expedition along the Skeleton Coast this coming October. An expedition led by Christophe Courteau, who has been Étendues Sauvages’ expert on this destination for over ten years.

To offer something different, a few changes have been made to the 2019 expedition: more time in Skeleton Coast National Park, a new bivouac far to the north near the Kunene River (which marks the border with Angola), a return by taxi plane from this region, and more.

For more information (dates, rates, itinerary), contact Laurent at 01.77.37.03.10 or via our contact form.

In short:
– a 12-day, 9-night journey on site
– a highly exclusive region: only 24 access permits granted each year
– only 7 people on this trip, including Christophe Courteau
– 4×4 vehicle for participants + support vehicles
– bivouac and total self-sufficiency for 7 days (water, food, fuel…)

“After exploring one of the wildest coastlines in the world, we change course and atmosphere to follow the Kunene River through immense dunes.

Driven by the prevailing winds, the sand of the Namib is stopped abruptly to the north by the Kunene River, a natural border with Angola.
Crossing the dunes by 4×4 requires patience and considerable experience.
At the end of this eventful day, camp is set up atop the dunes.
The viewpoint there is exceptional, overlooking the mysterious Kunene River.

Sitting atop the dunes for sunset, two billion years gaze back at you.
Welcome to Namibia”
