“What if luxury were experience? The experience of a night in the heart of nature, of absolute silence, a form of return to the essential. Being the quiet observer of a Nature we had gradually lost sight of. A desire to (re)connect.”
Reading this description and looking at the images recently unveiled in the press, this DNA is entirely in keeping with the philosophy of Étendues Sauvages!
Indeed, unable to travel this summer — and provided you have a large garden — we’d like to dream for a few nights in a LumiPod, a magnificent bedroom opening 180° onto nature.
The project comes from Lumicene, a company based in Lyon, whose first build has just been completed at a private residence in southeastern France.
The originality of the concept lies in particular in the circular glass bay that slides open across 180°, giving the sensation of being in osmosis with the outdoors, with no boundary. Of becoming one with the surrounding nature. A sensation that recalls the feeling given by some of the lodges we love so much, in Africa or Asia.
It is technically highly innovative and beautifully executed, with a modern, simple and refined interior design.
And since the European climate is not that of Bali or Botswana, the structure is fully insulated and the joinery is fitted with double- or even triple-glazed panels. A reversible air conditioning system is also planned, or simply a wood-burning stove for cooler nights and milder summers.
A good way to reconnect with nature without leaving home! Though for this summer it looks unlikely, as requests are pouring in and lead times run three to four months.
But deciding now might still leave time to enjoy the nights of Indian summer…

It’s worth noting that this LumiPod is designed and built in France. Including the joinery, manufactured by Saint-Gobain, in Chambéry.
