For fifteen days, we travelled through Vietnam from north to south.
It was a trip rich in discoveries: landscapes, the life of local people in town and countryside, encounters, and the country’s culture presented by highly competent and attentive guides.
Here is one example among many others:
In the late morning, we settle in on the Bassac, a comfortable vessel with about ten cabins.
After a delicious lunch and a few hours spent watching life on the Mekong, we stop for a short walk through the countryside. There, our guide names and points out numerous plants and trees of the region, and we finish with a fruit tasting at a local home.

We have the pleasure of watching the sunset over the Mekong Delta, then, the next morning, the sunrise at Tra On, before heading to the floating market of Can Tho.
We watch boats of all sizes arrive one by one, many motorised, some paddled by hand.
They are loaded with all kinds of goods: sacks of rice, watermelons, cabbages, pineapples, bananas, salt, flowers, wood, bricks…
The traders steer their boats with great skill through the crowd. We buy bananas from a woman selling her fruit from a boat, accompanied by her two small sons.
The bustle, the noise, the colours — all of it thoroughly disorienting in the best way…
An experience that will remain among our best travel memories!
